The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, is the best way to ensure that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the students who need it most.
- The Government calculates the amount the school receives by allocating a set amount of money to the school for each child who receives free school meals now or in the past and all looked after children
- The Government has stated that it is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent.
- New measures have been included in the Government performance tables that show the achievement of those pupils covered by the Pupil Premium.
Y7 Catch Up Premium
The Government provides additional funding to provide literacy and numeracy catch-up support for Year 7 pupils. It is to enable those pupils that did not achieve level 4 in reading and/or mathematics at Key Stage 2 to be given the opportunity to catch up as quickly as possible. The Government calculates the amount the school receives by allocating a set amount of money to the school for each child who obtained below level 4 in either reading or mathematics. We use it to fund a reading programme and we fund a catch up numeracy programme from the Pupil Premium which is detailed above.
